Week-3 Reflections

 

Hi friends,

This is a week of novel learning experience for me, my first task is to read the links provided in our course Wiki. I have gone through the reading assignment “Developing Listening Skills with Authentic Materials” by Lindsay Miller ,  there I  recognized how to teach the listening skill to my students, what are different stages/steps that  I have to follow while teaching this skill and how important it is. Then I have gone through another pdf link “New Perspectives in Teaching Pronunciation” by maria grazia busà here I came to know the role of CALL (computer assisted language learning) to teach pronunciation. Then my next task is to go through the ESL website. They are of glorious resources for ESL/EFL teachers, there I visited the link” http://www.esl-lab.com/zoo/zoord1.htm” 

This site is very supportive for me to teach listening skill.

Second task is constructing a page in Delicious.com and Bookmark at least 3 useful ESL sites. Delicious is an online Book marking site you can access your Book marks anywhere and very convenient for teacher to share their Book marks with the other teachers.

  3^rd task is to read the Project report and commenting on Nicenetclass I have chosen a report TEACH Africa prepared by Runganayagie Nalini Reddy, USAID Southern Africa, Pretoria, South Africa. It enriches my knowledge” How to prepare a project report” I have to prepare similar report by the end of this course so after doing this task; I understand that I have to start my work now, so that I can complete the project report on time.

4^th task is comment on one of my co-participants post in discussion task; there I have chosen Sonia’s post her recommended sites. Her comments are very inspiring regarding language learning and developing listening skills.

Finally it’s an amazing week I enriched my Knowledge of social Bookmarking, teaching listening skill using CALL programs and project report preparation skills.

My 2nd Week's Reflections

Hi,

I am almost done all my tasks in advance because I am enjoying my II term Holidays. I find a lot of time to read all other participants posts and blogs, It would be encouraging if the reading parts is available in advance so that if we have time we can complete  reading  in advance.

The first task I completed was web searching using different search engines; I came to know that there are other alternatives to Google search engine to find information on internet. Some search engines are more specific, for example Biography.com is to find people, I tried it to find my favorite Heroes Sway Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi, I got  fruitful results.

I also made a comment on my friends posts and I understand the difference between Website and Search engine by searching on Google in doing so I came across the Google’s free online course on power searching, I recommended this to my co-participants.

Next Task is to describe my class and ABCD objective while reading the information I  recollected all the learning theories that I learned during my teacher training program, at beginning I was jumbled to define the objective but our instructor  Donna helped me a lot to accomplice the task.

 Thank you Donna for being helpful.

Project Task: It’s a great opportunity for us  to apply our knowledge here itself, to do so I have chosen a project of maintaining E-Portfolios of my students in that I described my class and its settings it’s a kind of self-introspection how the things are going in our class by questioning ourselves How, what, why etc.

Finally,It’s a week of promising, stimulating, satisfying and encouraging .

 My  First Week reflections in web-skills online course 

Hi E-teachers,

  It is right? Isn’t it? This is my fantasy that every teacher must equipped with the knowledge of technology and the word ‘teacher ‘should be replaced with e-teacher and gain more name and reputation than software professionals. I joined this course with the encouragement of my teachers at RIE-Bangalore so I would like to thank my teacher at RIE and RELO India for providing scholarship.

The first day I got a mail from Donna that I should register in NICENET previously I attended a course from Oregon University there I was asked to register in NING but here it is my first surprise, any how I have an account in nicenet so I logged in and joined the class .My first task is to post the introduction and read the some word documents and pdfs about the rubrics and ground rules. I was admired at the introduction of my classmates because they are all well experienced in the field of ELT. I was a bit nervous to post my observations there. I have gone through the comments of my classmates and valued their posts and comments.

My next task is to prepare a BLOG post this task has made me to get a kind of relief from  my anxiety because I have been maintaining a Blog since 2010, I am almost familiar with the skill of Blogging using Blogger.com so immediately I started doing that task finally it’s a week of mixed feelings ……
